Just A Moment In Time

This picture was taken during a moment of reflection for a young man. This photo projects so much about our admiration for nature and it's beauty. One never knows the road in which God has placed him to travel, therefore, continue to seek his will, make a difference in this world, but most of all....Enjoy The Journey!

What A Viewpoint

This shot was taken at the top of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The air was crisp and cold. The snow was packed with fresh powder, the conditions were awesome, but the view was worth just stopping everything, and taking the time to enjoy it. It's a real pleasure to share this photo of crystal clear blue skies, and snow covered mountains with a sole (soul) boarder contemplating his path and trail down the mighty run....of life.

The Wrong Turn, The Right Path

This photo was taken at Waimea Canyon, Kauai, Kawaii. You can see the path at the bottom of this shot. Did I take the wrong turn? How did I get so far off the trail? Sometimes we take the wrong turns or make the wrong choices in life. The goal is to focus on what's important and your destination. If we always see wrong choices and turns as being lost, then we have no way of determining where we really want to go or be. Never give up!

Beauty In The Eye of Beholder

The rugged and dangerous, Napali Coast, Kauai, Hawaii. At first glance, this photo appears like a typical coast line, however, this is all but typical. Imagine yourself taking this photo, and then knowing you have to hike in to get to the farthest point you see in this photo. My 18 year old son and I did it in 4 hours, wearing just slippers and carrying our cameras. Unbelievable!

Getting All Caught Up...In What

This photo was taken on the bank of the Loc Lomand Lake in Santa Cruz, California. A great place to fish, relax, enjoy family, take a nap, and get great shots like these. This lake gave up the biggest trout we have ever caught. 19 in. and 2 1/2 lbs. This catch with my son that day reminded me of how important it is, to always get all caught up with your kids! I do. Mine Rock!

Some Sun Son

This photo was taken on the coast of Mexico. The picture is definately something we see often, yet take for granted every evening. How often do you just go out and enjoy a sunset? Are you too busy? Always going and going? Take the time to enjoy it. If you miss tonight, there may not always be a tomorrow. Look at the sun, then look at your son (if you have one, I have 3), and share the beauty this world has to offer with them.

The End of The Island

This photo was taken at the End of our long hike on Kauai, Hawaii. We took the trail and hiked as far as we could along the Napali Coast. Over 2 1/2 miles in, this was the end of the road for us. Coincidentally, this is also happened to be the furthest point west of the Island Kauai. The oceans powerful currents allowed us to go no further!

It's All Down Hill From Here

This photo was taken at Waimea Falls in Kauai, Hawaii. This awesome display of a power fall is captured at a rare angle. From the edge of this cliff, the fence and boundries had to be broken. The only way to get this shot is to climb over the edge, lean forward as far as you can and hope you don't fall off. Your second thought is always, "will they recover my camera and get this shot?"

Full Moon Tan

Captured on the Windward side of Oahu, Hawaii, this photo was taken in the town of Kailua, just around midnight. Using the natural moonlight, without flash and a long exposure, this was my favorite shot of moon shine ever. There is a natural bit of distortion, but it has a noticable center of focus. Who says a little moon shine ever hurt anyone. :-)

A River Runs Through It

This is a photo of the Wailua River in Kauai, Hawaii. The size of the canoe in the photo is the only thing that helps put the magnificence in perspective. This river takes you to the ocean on one end, and to the world famous Fern Grotto on the other. Just past the grotto is a rope swing for your swimming and adventurous pleasure. It's a long paddle in, but worth every effort.

There Is Always Hope

This picture was shot in Honolulu, Hawaii. The canoe clubs meet early in the morning to prepare for the days paddle ahead. Just like in life, we prepare, we race, and win or loose, the next day we still have hope that there is a chance we may win or loose again. It's not winning or loosing the race that matters, it's running it, that we don't want to miss the fun. Enjoy the race, as much as the victory or loss. Always have new hopes!

The Forest Through the Trees

This picture was taken near the Macadamia Nut Factory, on Oahu, Hawaii. If you walk to your car in the parking lot, you might want to stop and take a look at some of the "Forest Through The Trees". This is another one photo that you can get lost in. The setting and colors were so spectacular, I don't think the camera will ever equal the human eye.

Just The Two Of Us

This photo was taken in Monterey, California. A great pose for the camera by two sea lions resting, and sunning themselves. I was excited to be in a place that allowed my 12x optical zoom to be put to the test. At full zoom, this was the result of a steady hand and determination to get the shot. No tripod, no time to loose, just point and shoot!

A Diamond In Paradise

These photos were taken in Waikiki, Oahu, Hawaii. The first photo was taken from the white sandy beach, in front of the Royal Hawaiian. The view of Diamond Head was picture perfect, luckily I had my camera, and got this shot. The once active volcano longed to be visited and was calling me to the top for the next photo below...

When The Race Is Over

This scene captures a very rare moment in time. A normally busy lake with boats and skiers, it's rare to see something like this. The boat in this shot waits anxiously for it's driver, to adventure out and discover new and exciting places on this welcoming lake. The ripples in this photo represent the "Alway go forward" lesson in life. The calm of the lake, cries out to be explored...

The Lost Hat

This is a shot of Chinamans Hat, Oahu, Hawaii. There are legends and stories that go with this appropriately named Volcanic Cone. The angle of this picture is rare. We hiked up a hidden trail at Kualoa Park, and thru a dense wooded area to find this open plain, perfect for shooting this photo. This is a shot you won't see anywhere else.

Good Morning, God Day

This Picture was taken early morning in Felton, California. This is the Fern River Resort located off Highway 9 near Santa Cruz. Our cabin is right on the water, the fishing is great, the redwoods touch the sky, and shots like this capture the beauty of the sun peeking through the trees to say, good morning.

The View From Heaven

These photos were shot from an airplane flying over the Pacific Ocean, USA. They capture a perspective that most will miss when traveling merely because they didn't look out the window. In some cases, passengers pull down the blinds, and close the opportunity to see views like these. These photos are what I like to call or imagine...

The Five Mile Hike...In Slippers

This photo was taken along side a cliff at the Napali Coast, Kauai, Hawaii. We hiked straight up, 1/2 mile to get this photo. There are no cars, no bikes or roads. Just skinny, muddy trails and drop off cliffs make up the 2 1/2 mile hike in and 2 1/2 mile hike out. It took us about 4 hours total. The only access is by way of Helicopter, Boat, or on foot. My 18 year old son and I hiked in and will always remember...

Andersohn Island

This picture was shot in front of the Mandarin Hotel, Hawaii Kai, Hawaii. This is where the President of the United States stayed while visiting Oahu. Andersohn Island sits right off the beach about 50 yards. My boys and I swam out to the Island and made "Birds Of Paradise" from the palm leaves scattered around the Island. We claimed this Island, so now it is ours.

Tree House Cabana

This photo was captured at a beach park at Chinamans Hat, Oahu Hawaii. This is a place where the trade winds can exceed 50 miles per hour. We were camping here one weekend and both my sons tents blew away with them still inside. It was funny to some family members and terrifying to others. (the ones in tents). Can you guess which way the wind blows out here?

Sunshine On My Shoulder

This picture was shot along the coast of Lanai, Hawaii. My sons and I were passengers aboard a sunset dinner cruise that was exploring the coastal shores of the island "Lanai". Dinner, Dolphins, great entertainment, and the fanale, this sunset! Off in the distance we could see another dinner cruise ship enjoying the same thing we were.

Top Of The World

This photo was taken of Lake Tahoe, California and Nevada. You can only get a shot like this from the top of the mountain which is only accessable by snowmobile. Lake Tahoe is one of the deepest lakes in the world. The mountains surrounding the lake offer some of the most spectacular views you'll ever see. This one, for example, is a rare glimpse of clear skies, calm water, and peace in the middle of a stormy winter.

Top 10 Beaches

This shot was taken at Lanikai Beach in Hawaii. National Geographic called this one of the Top 10 Beaches in all the world. If you love quiet and solitude, this spot offers the best of both. Though it is a popular place in the world, there are rarely any people at this specific location. It is an honor to have captured this one on film. An award winning location if there ever was one!!

The Stairway to Heaven

This photo was taken in Capitola, California. Our favorite place to dine in Capitola. My wife and I love to go is this spot to enjoy the fine dining and the awesome atmosphere. It's called the Shadowbrook Restaurant. There is an old fashioned tram that takes you from the parking lot, down to the dining area. If you take the stairs instead, this is what you'll get to see.

One If By Land, Two If By Sea

These photos were taken from the plane as it flew into Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii. The mountains meet the ocean in a spectacular way in Kauai. This area is one that is not accessable to man. It can only be viewed by air. I think these shots expose a beautiful setting of the land meeting the sea.

The Humuhumunukunukuopoaa

This photo taken at the Grand Wailea Resort in Maui, Hawaii. It was my oldest son's 18th Birthday. We went to dinner at the (see title) to celebrate. This shot was the gift given to us after dinner. He too, takes his photography very seriously, and is excellent at what he does with a camera. I hope sharing moments and shots like these with him, made his 18th one he'll remember for ever. Long after I am gone, he will have this photo to remember the love his father had for him. Share what's important in life, good food, good friends, good times and family. Nothing else really matters...except catching it on film.

The Reflections of Light and Life

This photo was taken off the coast in Maui, Hawaii. I was looking to catch the glimmer of the moons reflection on the water. Not exactly what I had in mind, but the photo did make it past the second round of judging. What was not captured, was the ring around the moon that had more colors than a rainbow. It was absolutely stunning. With the equipment I had, I was very happy to even get this shot.

The Spirit of Aloha

This photo was taken in Waikiki, Hawaii. The subject was the Royal Hawaiian Resort. The night was calm, there was a mild trade breeze that cooled the evening, and my camera was working overtime. Catching just a piece of the city's night life, was really a priveledge. I always have difficulty shooting at night. There are so many opportunities, and so many things to capture on film. It is my goal to capture any photo that helps others see what is right with the world. Too many people focus on all the things that are wrong with the world.

When The Lights Go Down in the City

This is a picture of Waikiki, Oahu, Hawaii, taken from the rooftop of a Downtown Business District building. This photo required a very long exposure. It took a long time to find a place to shoot it from. It was a midnight shot, taken after hours of going from building to building looking for the best angle, and where to capture the best colors. Sometimes the 3 hours you invest, and the 100 shots you waste, make you realize that getting that 1 shot, makes it worth it. Kind of like life. What you put in to life, you will get back out. Invest in the best life by giving all you can, and doing your best. I love this scene of Waikiki. It was the nights way of giving back to me.

The Dawns Early Light

This shot was taken down by a lake between, San Jose and Gilroy, California. The photo was shot just at dawn. It was so early in the morning, I can't remember where I shot this, or it's so late now, I'm just too tired to try. (LOL) The power of a photo can do so many things. Like a song you hear on the radio, will trigger a thought or a memory, this shot triggers my memory and reminds me of the friends I was with, and the great time we all had. Topped off with this photo, I think life doesn't get much better than that!

Population Awareness

This picture was taken in Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii. Located just next to the Marriott, but not a spot many will ever find. This is one of my Favorite shots I have been lucky enough and blessed to get. I would have to say, that this location would have to be one of my top 3 places on the planet. I can't tell you exactly where it is, because if I did, it would no longer be...

The Color Purple

This photo was taken in Beautiful Nevada. This is a shot of the of the Sierra Nevada mountains. This was a sight that just made you stop, look, and sigh...then smile, because you had your camera with you. These are the photos that make true and natural color come back to our senses. We get caught up in life and get too busy to see all the beauty the world has to show us. What does the color purple do for me? Makes me happy to be alive, and...it's my wife's favorite color. This post is for her! I love you Princess.

A Bird In The Hand is Worth...

This photo was taken along the Pali Highway, Oahu Hawaii, next to a tropical park by Kaneohe Bay. If a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush, then this bird on my hand must be worth something...It was... How often during the human life, does man and the wild ever really make physical contact? Seeing a wild animal up close, creates a certain kind of emotion, touching it creates yet another, but capturing it on film helps bring back that memory of a feeling that is rarely experienced in a lifetime.

The Great Wishing Well...or Not!

This shot was taken at Berryessa Lake, California, just on the west side of the dam. This picture says it all. Just let your imagination run away with you. Let all those questions just consume your mind. This is one of my favorite photos. It has so much to say. Beautiful yet eerie at the same time. The photo does the location no justice. Standing right next to this phenomenon was awesome!!

In-flight, In-sight, Is-right!

This photo was snapshot in Carmel, California at the end of the main street in town. It was one of those moments I happened to be looking in the right direction through my viewfinder, and as quick as I pressed the button, the bird had passed by my lens. Thinking I had lost the shot, I never looked at it until I got home. This was a better shot than I remembered or expected.

Powerful yet Peaceful

This Photo was taken on the Coast of Maui, Hawaii in front of the Marriott. There is nothing more tranquil than a day closing with a Hawaiian Tropical Sunset. The Secret Fishing Hole

This photo was taken at Pinecrest, California on Pinecrest Lake. The fishing at this location is the best I've ever experienced. It is a family tradition to take our annual camping trip to Pinecrest. One year, the fishing was so good, when me and the boys ran out of bait, we used shiny hooks with NO bait, and continued to catch our limit of trout for the day!
